Captain’s Log: Entry

Today Jimmy, Jasco, Norling, and I snuck out dawn patrol on
the Va Pue to try and catch the first wahoo of the year. Unfortunately the
wahoo have not shown up yet, but there was plenty of other action to go
around. We started out trolling and caught a nice Mackeral, Roosterfish,
and some Jacks. It was kinda slow, so we decided to test out a new kite
that Jimmy just brought down. We anchored up and started chumming and
working Sabikis to catch some live bait. We ended up catching a couple of
grunts and sent them out on the kite. Sure enough, a big pack of snappers
came to the surface and starting beating the crap out of the bait until
one finally got hooked! What a rush, big topwater live bait hits by
Snapper! The highlight was a 25+ pound snapper bull dogging a bait just
behind the boat on the surface. We also managed to coax a Yellowfin into
our kite setup! It turned out to be a great day and we are stoked to add
something new to our artillery!
