Check out the big turtle festival in Astillero! This was a groundbreaking event where the community successfully incubated thousands of turtle eggs all the way until they hatched. Then today they had a huge event celebrating the turtles and allowing all the children in the community to release the baby turtles into the ocean!

Muchas tortugas!!

Astilero is also opening a new tourist center where they will sell local arts and crafts. Here is the first mate of the Explorador with hand carved fish he made!

This is the Turtle mascot!!!

The goal of the event was education, so that the youth does not poach turtle eggs.

Our good buddy Tony with a tortuga!

These little turtles are really cool. Hope this little dude doesn't get eaten by a big Jack Cravelle!!

Thousands of baby turtles!

There were many barrels slammed full with turtles!!

This was a great event!!

I am guessing about a thousand people showed up for the event!
We have some light winds and some fun surf in the water. We can't ask for better conditions this time of year. Hope everyone is staying warm back in the states.

Some head high sets coming through.
